Workouts & Training Maps – Routes
The Maps – Routes we use for running and cycling are also some of the safest places for our workouts. The roads are well maintained and the majority have bike lanes, wide shoulders and are well lit. The trails and other facilities that we use are well maintained and safe. Athletes safety is always a priority for Lions Valley Athletics and when using these routes for any workout, always have a buddy, be alert and obey traffic laws. Helmets a
re mandatory for all cycling workouts.
The maps – routes are regularly referenced in the Workouts on our Calendar. The workouts will always be changing, and even though we might use the 5KM running loop for two workouts both workouts will usually serve different purposes. View Calendar and this weeks workouts [CALENDAR].
RUNNING ROUTES – ROAD
The familiar routes we use for workouts and training. They are great because of the space on both sides of the road and workouts can be adjusted to make thems as easy or challenging as needed.
The Lions Valley Athletics 5KM Loop
This is our most used Route and Segment because we can use it all year. There are parking lanes and bike lanes on both sides of Pilgrims Way and Nottinghill Rd while Old Colony Rd and Rushbrook Dr. are both wide with no traffic. In the winter these streets are the first to be salted and plowed because of the schools nearby.
The Lions Valley Athletics Heritage Way 2.2KM Loop
Lions Valley Athletics 4KM Loop
A variation on the 5KM Loop. There are parking lanes and bike lanes on both sides of Pilgrims Way and Nottinghill Rd. on almost the entire route. In the winter these streets are the first to be salted and plowed because of the schools nearby. This ends at Forestbrook Rd only 50m away from the start.
Wednesday Group Run 5KM Route
The Wednesday 5KM Route we use throughout the winter.
Wednesday Group Run 7.5KM Route
The Wednesday 7.5KM Route we use throughout the winter.
Wednesday Group Run 10KM Route
The Wednesday 10KM Route we use throughout the winter.
RUNNING ROUTES – TRAIL
Oakville has a spectacular trail system that we use at every opportunity. Here are the trail routes we use for workouts and training.
Lions Valley Athletics 3.8KM & 6KM Trail Tempo
3.8KM Short Sixteen Mile Creel Trails Tempo – https://www.strava.com/routes/7970172
6KM Long Sixteen Mile Creel Trails Tempo – https://www.strava.com/routes/7970200
Lions Valley Athletics Cross Country Trail Loops
These trail loops are perfect when training for Cross Country racing. They are loaded with small ups and downs on a winding trail that doesn’t have a flat section on it. Its perfect because you must constantly keep your running rhythm from falling apart on these challenging loops.
CYCLING ROUTES – ROAD
New for 2016 is our Multisport Membership. Cycling routes for time trials, hills, bricks, and long rides can be found near Oakville. See the routes we use for our Workouts.
