David Gallant was our sole runner in the 5k race with an early 7am start that had perfect conditions for racing. Once the gun went off, he stayed with a small group at the front which eventually became only two. Coming around the corner into the finishing chute David out-sprinted Oliver Bartozek for his first ever win and a new personal best of 17:20.3 for 5k.
In the 10k race, Mike Gill ran it solo from start to finish to win with a time of 32:43.7 and 4min between him and the next runner. Larry Bradley and Darryl Rowan battled it out for a spot on the Masters podium. Larry Bradley finished 4th place overall and 1st Masters in 37:16.8 despite a nagging injury. Darryl Rowan managed to clinch 3rd on the Masters podium in 38:53.6, as a tune up for his Marathon in 3 weeks.
We also had some volunteers that were up at the crack of dawn to support this event and our runners. Thank You Sean & Chad for getting up before the sun to hand out medals and collect chips. Thank you Lisa from Palermo Physiotherapy and Wellness Centre for taking care of our runners on race day!
