Cupcake Mile Results

The Cupcake Mile organized by Black Forest Pastry Shop owner John Ziemba was a huge success despite the less than desirable clouds and rain. Held in downtown Oakville the 400m loop encompassed the block around Black Forest Pastry Shop.   The reason for this event was to support and raise money for The Lighthouse Project for Grieving Children.  The Event raised a total of $3200 for  this worthwhile cause.

Mike Gill & myself were fresh from the Saturday workout and ready for two more sets: 4 x 400m and 4 x Whole Cupcake. The rain had started making the 400m loop slippery on the corners but we still registered and got ready in our Lions Valley Athletics race gear.  On behalf of Lions Valley Athletics the two of us raised $120 for the Lighthouse Project.

We started in Heat 2 with 13 others and as soon as the horn sounded Mike finished that cupcake and flew onto the 400m loop. I got a few pictures during the race too and wouldnt see Mike again until I was enjoying cupcake #3 and he was on his last cupcake #4 and starting his bell lap. "Wait a minute....Oh S*#t...He just lapped me!"  were the thoughts going through my head until I got lost in the delicious cupcake I was currently eating #NomNomNom. I  continued knowing I was somewhere in the middle of the pack and enjoyed the sights and tastes of Downtown Oakville. This was not a timed event so there are no official Cupcake Mile Results but both Mike and I finished the four 400m intervals and the four chocolate cupcakes.  On lap #4 it felt like one big mass but it was all 4 cupcakes sitting at the bottom of my stomach.  Worth it!

There was a Cookie Dash for the kids and draw prizes for each heat.  Thanks to John Ziemba and Black Forest Pastry for organizing this event.
