Cupcake Mile Results

The Cupcake Mile organized by Black Forest Pastry Shop owner John Ziemba was a huge success despite the less than desirable clouds and rain. Held in downtown Oakville the 400m loop encompassed the block around Black Forest Pastry Shop.   The reason for this event was to support and raise money for The Lighthouse Project for Grieving Children.  The Event raised a total of $3200 for  this worthwhile cause.Mike Gill & myself were fresh from the […]

Chicago to Toronto – Two Journeys to the Marathon

Two Lions Valley Athletics members took the long road towards running a marathon this fall,  Darryl Rowan at Scotiabank Toronto Waterfront Marathon and Cynthia O’Halloran at The Bank of America Chicago Marathon. Training for a marathon is hard work, time consuming and sometimes you have to make sacrifices to ensure success on race day.  They trained for the same distance but had very different journeys to get there. 2015
